Rushford Court, Durham

Development Overview

Rushford Court, formerly Durham’s county hospital has undergone conversion into a state of the art student accommodation scheme inclusive of a gym, cinema room and breakout/study space for students . The former Victorian property has be extensively renovated and extended with two new blocks of residences built to the front of the site. In total there are 363 bedrooms provided in the scheme in a mixture of studio rooms and 4 to 5 bedroom clusters for the city’s students.

Preparatory work started in late 2016 with the main construction starting in Q1 2017 with completion achieved in August 2018.

The development was pre-sold to Unite Students who will own and operate the scheme.


The site is perfectly located for study, nightlife, recreation and the outdoors and is situated a ten minute walk away from the University campus and minutes from the city’s bus and train stations and many bars and restaurants.
