Rushford Court, Durham
Rushford Court, formerly Durham’s county hospital is to be converted into a state of the art new student accommodation scheme inclusive of a gym, cinema room and breakout/study space for students . The former Victorian property will be extensively renovated and extended with two new blocks of residences built to the front of the site. In total there will be 363 bedrooms provided in the scheme in a mixture of studio rooms and 4 to 5 bedroom clusters for the city’s students.
Preparatory work started in late 2016 with the main construction starting in Q1 2017. The development is on course to be operating for the 2018 student intake with construction progressing ahead of schedule.
The development was pre-sold to Unite Students who will own and operate the scheme.
The site is perfectly located for study, nightlife, recreation and the outdoors and is situated a ten minute walk away from the University campus and minutes from the city’s bus and train stations and many bars and restaurants.
