Doughnut giant Krispy Kreme opens production hub in Peterborough
AMERICAN doughnut giant Krispy Kreme has opened its latest restaurant and production hub in Peterborough, attracting doughnut lovers from across the region on its opening day.
Leading national property developers Sladen Estates, in partnership with Peveril Securities, built the 4,577 sq ft unit at Cygnet Green in Hampton for Krispy Kreme, which opened its first UK store in 2003.
The Peterborough store officially opened last week. Development director at Sladen Estates, Nigel Jones, said the arrival of Krispy Kreme had created a real buzz around the retail park.
He said: “We’re delighted to have assisted such a well-known and popular brand to continue its growth throughout the UK with the construction of its latest restaurant and production hub.
“The unit provides approximately 40 covers, a ‘drive-thru’ lane and a production hub supplying fresh doughnuts to all Krispy Kreme in-store cabinets within a one hour radius of Cygnet Green.
“The doughnut giant joins other well-loved food and drink outlets such as Toby Carvery and KFC at Cygnet Green, which is now becoming a go-to destination for local families and business people for a lunch time treat or an evening out. We’re thrilled to see the retail park thriving and busy.”
Located in the new and growing town of Hampton, Cygnet Green compliments the existing retail and leisure offer in the area and is well positioned for connections to nearby expanding housing developments and major road links to the A1. The site was acquired in a deal secured by Krispy Kreme’s retained property agent, Morgan Williams.
The development follows on from Sladen and Peveril’s previous developments at Hampton which include a 48,000 square foot office building for MasterCard subsidiary Access Prepaid and restaurant units for Chiquito, Frankie and Benny’s, Harvester and Bella Italia.
Agents Steve Hawkins at Barker Storey Matthews and Neil Bowler at Jenics acted for Sladens and Peveril Securities on the Krispy Kreme unit.
